Super thick pages (black or white). Each side is custom designed....which means you let me know what you prefer and I design to your preference! There are SO many cover options! For the studio sample I ordered "Brandywine". The leather is SO soft and gorgeous.....Yay! I'm so excited :)

PLUS the winners of each local Flaunt Your Rock contest will be placed in a national contest to win a grand prize worth $450+. • Submit 1 photograph of your ring & 1 photograph of yourselves (please do not submit images taken by another professional photographer).

Photography??? ~ Bay Area Photographer

Well hello Internet :) Today I want to talk a little bit about how in the world an accountant/auditor came to be a photographer...I suppose this topic is geared a little towards my fellow photographers or those interested in this medium...which I guess all of you are..otherwise you wouldn't be reading a photography blog, right! :)

I often think back to what it was that really got me interested in Photography. Those of you that know me...know that this was not the direction I was heading. UCLA...Accounting....Economics...does not a photographer make! And although I always had the creative side of my brain working...I really have Justin to thank for pushing me forward and encouraging a talent that he believed in.

But thinking back in time...Photography was always a part of our lives. You see...it all started with this:

My Dad's Zenit...made in Russia, built like a Tank...all manual, over 30 years old and still in mint condition. I remember dad developing film in his makeshift darkroom (a bathroom)..I remember the prints drying...we still have albums and albums of black and white prints. Can't tell you how many times I've looked through them...and now Isaac is too.

So, here's a toast to Zenit, to my Dad and to my Husband...and to all the folks who tell stories with their lens!

Moments - Palo Alto Family Photographer

I've been feeling this a lot lately....that our little ones are changing and growing so much and so quickly...that these moments where they think we are the greatest thing are limited to a few short years....that I wish I could bottle up the emotion and daily hilarious interactions...so I could remember them forever.

I think about that with Isaac and I was thinking the exact same thing with this beautiful family I had the pleasure of photographing the other day. You see, J and A and C are a beautiful little unit of 3. But in just a few months C will welcome a baby brother. And what J&A wanted were photos of the three of them....as they are NOW! Big changes are up ahead...but these photos will forever be a memory of what it was like when it was just the three.

Cupcakes and Balloons - Palo Alto Children's Photographer

Those of you here in Northern California know we've been hit with some CARRAZY weather....well, crazy for this neck of the woods at least. I know i know..it's not Minnesota or Russia, it's not snow or blizzards or anything..but still...Rain, rain and more rain...is No FUN! Especially when you have a photo shoot that's supposed to take place outside in Sunny California weather!

So, you better believe I was jumping up for joy when I woke up Saturday morning to beautiful Sunny weather after weeks or rain! That meant we didn't have to cancel the photo shoot for the day...and good thing too!

Meet Ms. L...she just turned One, has gorgeous brown eyes and beautiful curls. She's a serious little pumpkin who loves to snuggle with mom and dad (seriously..it's the cutest thing!) Such a lovely girl...walking since about 11 months, so she's an old pro at the walking thing...but even still...didn't run from me! YAY!

You know that saying...."when you're smiling...the whole world smiles with you"...SO true!

...So I seriously can't believe the sun is finally shining again. It's been a miserable few weeks around here...for many reasons. :( But it feels good to be back here...writing, editing, working...

I have a fun session to share with you all! When L contacted me a few months back about having headshots taken of her daughter as they embark on the search for an agent, I was interested...something different from my usual children/family fare. But when I met L and the fabulous I to discuss what it is they were looking for, I knew right away we'd have a great time!!! Not only is I beautiful, but super talented as well! And at 13 yrs old (JUST barely)...she is so mature, calm and easy going...made my job a breeze!

L&I, thank you for a lovely Thursday afternoon! Jen and I had a fantastic time...and I, you were amazing!

So here we go...just a few that jumped out at me as I transferred the photos...

Isaac Chronicles Continued - Bay Area Photographer

While eating his apple sauce this morning, the little man decided that it was time for a little concert. A lot of you know that our kid LOVES to sing...always has :)

Since he started preschool however...he's gotten louder and louder. I think all the little ones in his music class try to out-sing each other...at least I hope that's the case.

Here are two classics that they sing in class....the russian speakers will recognize that he is seriuosly making up some of the words...but J and I just think that means he'll be writing his own tunes soon....right? HA!

SO....I'm giving it another whirl....and with my New Year's resolution of being a better, more consistent blogger...I will try very hard this time! Promise :)

Rolls and Random Thoughts - Bay Area Family Photographer

Writer's block....that's what I'm experiencing right now. OK...I don't think I should call myself a writer....blogger's block? Maybe that's more accurate! Going on five minutes of sitting in front of the computer....thinking about what I want to talk about today! So....I think I'll just start...and see what happens...

Here are a couple of things we are working on currently:
1. Updating the website (it will be FABULOUS!)
2. Sprucing up our branding
3. Upgrading equipment
4. Preparing to launch a marketing blitz
5. Introducing new products
6. Raising a very active, very smart...and opinionated 3 yr old

Lots to do, but really exciting stuff!

One more thing...this wknd I took the little dude on a little adventure to Carmel, CA with my parents. I hadn't been there in ages, and was totally and completely blown away by how gorgeous it is. I could have kicked myself for not bringing the camera. But truly.....the beach is breathtaking! So if any of you are looking for a little getaway for a night or two...PERFECT spot! (I promise to take some snaps next time!)

I don't think words are necessary to describe little B's adorableness (is that a word?) Truly the sweetest, smiliest...most squeezable little girl!

Back in the swing of things....that's how I'm feeling today! Feeling good.. and happy to be back working! So, you've seen the cutie pie from a few days ago...now it's time to see the whole family! Still one of my favorite sessions from back in the day.... so I was excited to see how much little D had grown and changed..not to mention to meet the new addition, 7 month old R. And It's 2010! - Bay Area Family Photographer

Over a thousand miles driven, lots of adventures along the way....but we made it! We had a fantastic time on our little break, but are so happy to be home! I'm exhausted and will write more soon...but for now, just wanted to share one shot from our trip. We didn't take too many photos...too busy enjoying life i guess :)

BUT....on our way to visit my brother, Justin spotted this great little orchard and pulled over. We drove around the side of the farm...a bit unto private property...but we figured...Isaac was there to flash his dimples...in case the sheriff was called. Luckily...we took a few shots and high-tailed it out of there!

I love this shot that J got! SO beautiful and peaceful....makes me think of a California Winter...still green, but bare branches.

Feels good to write again...seems like it's been a little while :)

2009 - Bay Area Photorapher

Hi Guys! Sorry for the lack of communication these last few weeks!

We are here...celebrating with the family, buying/wrapping/giving gifts, catching up with old friends, and getting ready for a little trip to So Cal and then Roseville :) (Wish us luck please...the last time we took a 5 hr drive with the little dude...he was ONE! I'm mentally preparing myself)

Before we go though, I am determined to tie up all the loose ends on the business side. So, dear clients...you'll be hearing from me today or tomorrow!

And so....2009 has come and gone! What an amazing year...too many things to list...but let me just say HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you for visiting us every day....you are who we write for!

Great Expectations - Bay Area Maternity Photographer

Every time I get in my car to head to another session...I feel those butterflies. The anticipation of something new...you'd think that after three years it would be no big deal. But that's not true! Every time is exciting, nerve-wrecking...and FUN. And it's what I love! Because I get to meet people like this....

Sunday morning it was my absolute pleasure to photograph one of the kindest funniest couples I've met. As soon as I spoke to M on the phone, i knew it would be fun working with her...and I was right! Little did I know that B was going to be awesome too! It was a cold and cloudy day (for the most part) and the University was deserted....we walked all over stopping everywhere for a few shots! It was so much fun...and allowed me to re-discover my love for this particular location :) I tell ya...I'm a lucky girl!

Three - Bay Area Photographer

Today....he is Three:

3 Yrs ago today (4:18am to be exact) a little blond bundle of Joy came into our lives. All 9lbs 4 Oz of him.

And today....well...today....he is a BOY. Not a baby, not a toddler..but a boy!

A Boy who loves to laugh and sing and dance and play with his trucks and trains...

A Boy who loves to give kisses and hugs to his family AND his friends

A Boy who is always one the move (so a moment like this is very rare)

A Boy who is loved by many...who has a kind heart....and a sweet dimpled smile....

Hi Everyone! It's been a slow few days here on the blog...you know how it is..holidays, birthdays, work, etc :) Don't worry, I miss you all and am coming back very soon with lots'o'stuff to share!

We finally had a chance to put the tree up! Isaac even decorated it :) He did great...for the most part..we did have an unfortunate broken penguin incident. But nevertheless...check it out!

Portrait Party - The Finale ~ Bay Area Photographer

You know, it's kind of amazing! As a lot of you know, I was born and lived in Russia until I was about 10. Justin was born and grew up in Minnesota. And in the Winter..it was cold...like, really...COLD. So you'd think that this tiny little California freeze we're having would be no big deal...right? OH...so wrong...we've been freeeezzzing over here! Both Isaac and I are battling a cold. Heater cranked up to 90, scarfs and hats..the whole nine yards. SO, let's all collectively ask for sunshine and warm weather. COME ON...It's CALIFORNIA!

Ray of Sunshine on a Rainy Day - Bay Area Family Photographer

**Taking a break from the Portrait Party Extravaganza to share another session from this past weekend**

This Sunday I met up with some of our favorite people for a very special 'Family' shoot. A shoot of a family of three...who are about to become a family of four. Not only have J and I known each other for more then a decade..but our kiddos are great friends as well! Not just friends...classmates even! I've been photographing little N since she was about one yr old! And she is just as adorable as she was then...but with more personality!

SO! J, who is obviously a reader of our blog...said the following as we were finishing up our session: "I know exactly what you'll write on your blog...'It was the wettest photo shoot ever!'" AND SHE'S RIGHT!!! It was...we got completely soaked, our fingers were frozen and towards the end we were pretty miserable with the weather...BUT, hey...you gotta suffer for the art, right? :)

Fast. Crazy. Loud. Busy. and FUN!!! That's what my Saturday was like...how about you? :)

If you've been following V&J for a while, you'll remember the mega Portrait Party extravaganza back in August. Well, we did it again :) Except now they are older, wiser and most importantly...MOBILE! So, yes..it was a challenge, but really fun and very much worth it!

L! I remembered her as soon as they walked into the party...i mean, could you really forget these eyes? I don't think so!

R! She was on our blog header for quite some time, so she's famous among the V&J Blog readers :)

N! What a sweet girl she is, still doing the zombie walk and has the most beautiful brown eyes! (p.s. YES...the bear has 2008 on its foot..i know i know!)

M! Love this kid...he was just as smiley and adorable as he was last time...but now he walks!

P! We got to know each other quite well...for some reason he was really drawn to our little 'photography' corner and kept popping up between shots :)

C! Oh my....she is just beautiful! AND sits still :) It's amazing!

Connected - Bay Area Children's Photographer

The other day...I packed up the truck, sent the boys off to SF for an auto show and crossed the bay for one of my favorite sessions to date! I've been looking forward to this one for a while....a 6 month old baby boy!!! My favorite age (i know i know, you've heard me say it a million times!)

After a shaky start (Umm, i didn't write down the phone number OR the apartment # and got completely lost)...we had a fantastic shoot! N&A were so welcoming (thanks for that Iced Tea guys!) and little M was the smiliest, sweetest little guy :)

Amazing - Bay Area Children's Photographer

It's amazing how much a year can change someone! They went from trying to be super cool and not smile last year to totally and completely hamming it up for me this year!!! And it was F.U.N!

Let me backtrack a bit....those that have been following V&J for some time, you'll definitely recognize these lovely girls from years past. Our cousins from LA, our flower and ring girls at our wedding...and our favorite Sister duo. This is the 3rd year now that we are photographing them for their Holiday card, and it's been pretty great watching them grow and change.

Here are just a few favorites so far...something different from the usual toddler/baby pumpkins you see around here.

Big sis, A! She is super talented, in theater, sings, dances...and a GREAT big sister.

Lil sis, E! Unbelievably athletic, charming, funny, beautiful...AND she can entertain Isaac like no other! It's like she understands his language...so does A, for that matter.

We Survived! ~ Bay Area Children's Photographer

Day after Turkey Day! We survived...but are still recovering from the insane amount of F.O.O.D! It was fantastic though, spending time with family...baking pumpkin pies, fun times! And the weekend is far from over...So, not too many words today...

BUT, I had to drop by to share my last session! I met L, H and little M at Stanford for a family shoot a few days ago. M is 18 months old and has the sweetest smile I've ever seen. When she smiles, you can't help but smile right along with her ;) And mom and dad were fantastic...making my life easy by going along with all of my crazy plans!

Making Her Laugh - Bay Area Children's Photographer

I love what I do. I love meeting new people, families...and capturing the love and interaction between them. Justin said something the other day which really stuck with me...He said "You do something that makes people feel good...You are capturing moments and creating images that will stand the test of time....that they will look at 20 yrs down the line and remember". He is right...and I feel lucky! In the spirit of Thanksgiving....Thank you to all the wonderful clients/friends who continue to make it possible.

NOW...on to the latest session with the sweetest little 18 month old in all the land! Little R was such a trooper. It was a COLD/crisp fall day but she stuck it out like a champ. Not to mention that her mommy and daddy knew exactly how to make their girl laugh...and laugh and laugh :)

A Colorful Life - Bay Area Children's Photographer

You know, I'm not sure what I'm going to do when all these gorgeous Fall colors fade away! We, here in California, always complain about the fact that we don't have a "real" Fall season...and that everything is green...all the time. Well, dear Internet...I beg to differ. Our last few sessions have been SO full of color...just beautiful! You'll see :)

On Saturday, we met up with the "T" family at the ever famous Gamble Gardens (Yes folks, this location rocks...what can I say). Little C is just 15 months old but is fast fast fast! She's definitely a mover and a shaker...but what a sweetheart! Wait until you see these cheeks!

Changes - Bay Area Photography

Driving home today after picking up the little man at preschool...Isaac and I were looking for some good tunes to rock out to in the car, and guess what we landed on...Jingle Bells! It is not even Thanksgiving but the Holiday tunes are already on the radio...and I can't say we were upset. In fact, the entire way home we were remembering the words to our favorite Holiday Classics :)

Anyway, it made me realize that it was time to spice things up a bit around here...visually speaking of course. I loved my last header, but it was just way too Springy and bright! I think we are finally ready to accept the fall/winter/holidays/cold. Hope you guys like the new Winter look.

And because a post with a pic is just no fun...and because you, my dear friends..have not seen our boy in his rockin' motorcycle jacket...here you go!

Beautiful P - Palo Alto Children's Photographer

When I saw mommy A walking towards me yesterday with a bag full of clothes..I knew we'd get along great! But little did I know...A was an ETSY lovin' mama!!! For those of you who don't know what Etsy is, I highly recommend you go check it out HERE! For all of you creative, fun Girls out there....it's a really fun place to browse.

Anyway, yesterday I photographed the beautiful C family. We met at the Stanford campus, which for the first time...had some major significance! A&S met at Stanford...they got married in the Stanford Church AND little P was born at the Stanford hospital. Could there be a better location to photograph the family? I dont' think so :)

I first photographed little P in August during the big photo extravaganza (you can see her HERE)...and have been very much looking forward to seeing her again!

A Mini - Bay Area Children's Photographer

A mini session that is! The holidays are coming (obviously!) and a whole lot of people are trying to get that perfect photo for the perfect holiday card...including this sweet pea! Isaac's sweetheart, one of my very favorite subjects and a frequent visitor to our blog...Ms. C had a mini-session with me at beautiful Villa Mantalvo (WOW what a location!!)

And this little mini-session gave me an excellent idea! What if we do a mini-session marathon next holiday season? It's a great way to get some fabulous holiday photos without booking the full session! Something to think about for next year anyway :)

Smile - Bay Area Children's Photographer

So, what do you get when you combine a beautiful mama, a toddler with a smile that lights up the whole world...and blue eyes, like you've never seen before! Well, you get little R and his mommy H, of course! You might remember R from THIS mega-session a few months ago...and when H contacted me to set up a session for the Holidays...well, let's just say I was excited!

And R didn't disappoint...still just as sweet, still with the beautiful smile...and THOSE EYES!

Little Man - Bay Area Children's Photographer

Today I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a beautiful...and I mean BEAUTIFUL.. family of 3. You see, little N just learned to walk a few weeks ago...and I gotta tell you, it was the most adorable walk I've ever seen. A shuffle...like a little old man..I only wish my camera could have captured the movement...guess you'll have to take my word for it!

Mommy S and I have known each other for about 15 years..but hadn't seen each other in about 10 (numbers are approximate folks). So, I was super excited to catch up with her, meet her hubby and their adorable, sweet little boy. The session was a dream! Little man was a great model and mom and dad are pretty much GORGEOUS! They made my job easy...and hey, I'm not complaining!

S&E, thanks for driving all the way to PA today and being so fabulous!! Enjoy your sneak peek :)

I asked S if she had a particular shot she wanted me to capture...her response was "A shot of all of us...looking at the camera" ---BINGO

200! - Bay Area Children's Photographer

As I was sitting down to write this blog entry, I happened to take a look at my stats...and guess what! This is our 200th post!!!! Who would have thought....thank you all for coming back to visit us...afterall, that's why I keep writing! So happy 200th to us....may there be many more!

Ok, on to the task at hand....all I really wanted to say was that the Holiday madness is in full swing! I am shooting, editing, processing, ordering, packaging, etc...and I wouldn't have it any other way! Thank you all..you are making this season FANTABULOUS! Is that a word? It is now :)

Birthday Boy! - Bay Area Children's Photographer

The coolest family ever! Yep, they really were....This morning I packed up the car and headed over to Santa Clara University to photograph my friend M and her (BIG) family. You see, it was little C's first birthday! What better time to get your photos taken? Not only that, but both sets of grandparents were visiting from LA and Seattle to see their little guy. As you'll see, he is certainly not lacking in love and attention!

Trick or Treat - Bay Area Photography

Hi All...Well, it's the day before the big day! Isaac has his Costume and Boo Bucket ready (did you know that's what the buckets are called?? I had no idea!) Anyway, Isaac is going as a Lion..as you know..and Justin and I will be recycling our costumes from a few years ago...Ketchup and Mustard! That's right folks! We are that cool :)

A Lion, A Monkey and A Princess = ? ~ Bay Area Children's Photographer

A Lion, A Monkey and A Princess = ADORABLE!!!

Yesterday, the little dude and I met up with some friends for an early Halloween Celebration! You can't imagine how many awesome costumes we saw...a few favorites include,

A Toddler Elvis (white jumpsuit, sideburns drawn on)
A little Dorothy (not creative but super cute)
Tons of ladybugs, pumpkins and bumble bees
A few Dragons
Thomas the Train (this was Isaac's favorite)

A Transformer and A Bee - San Jose Children's Photographer

Well, hey there friends! It's been a busy busy few days, but I'm here to share another fabulous session with you (and one of my all time favorite shots ever!)

This Sunday, I had the great pleasure of photographing a fabulous brother and sister duo who were full of energy, personality and fun! Big brother M is 5 years old and a GREAT big brother. Little E is 18 months and is FAST fast fast! But as soon as she took off, M was running after her to make sure she didn't fall or run into the street. What a lucky girl! Big brothers are the best ;)

Sweet J - Bay Area Photographer, Family/Children

What a great time we had tonight! I've been looking forward to this session for some time! And when mommy S told me that she couldn't decide on an outfit for sweet J because she had so many fabulous ones...well, i knew right then that she was my kinda gal!

My good friend Jen came along to help me this evening...and thank goodness! Because this little pumpkin can Run and Climb like no other One yr old I've ever met! Seriously..it's amazing...Isaac was barely cruising at this age! She definitely made us work for those smiles...but, boy were they worth it!

And a special shout out goes out to daddy J! Who was tortured by my camera against his will...but made the best of it and was a total trooper/baby wrangler/happy dude!

Quick Story...apparently the location where we were shooting is having a Halloween Party this evening. Well...we were wrapping up our session, the sun had set....all of a sudden..from around the corner we see a vision. We all look up...to see.... a Geisha strolling through the garden! (a 6 ft tall man dressed as a dead geisha carrying a parasol). YEP! I'm serious...he is slowly gliding towards us...and of course, little J, brave soul that she is, starts coming right towards him...as he passed us...in a VERY creepy and quite voice he said "What a brave little girl"...Yep, that's pretty much how we wrapped things up :)

Double Trouble/Double Fun ~ Bay Area Photographer, Family

I was so happy when I got an email from A wanting to book us to photograph her twin girls along with both sets of grandparents. You see, I've been wanting to photograph twins forever! Yes, it's a challenge....both with the age (18 months) and the fact that there are two of them running in different directions...BUT, what can be cuter then two identical little girls with gorgeous brown eyes!

We met everyone bright and early in Gamble Gardens on Sunday morning, with lots of props, snacks, re-enforcements and got to work :) I have to say a BIG Thank You to J, who was a huge help, lugging around a wagon full of props and sang "Itsy Bitsy Spider" more times then I can count.

7 Days New - Bay Area Photography, Newborn

It's safe to say that I've been very impatiently awaiting this session for over a month now! You might remember this beautiful pair from September:

Well, guess what! She's here!!! And she's lovely! I was so excited to photograph this little beauty! She is 7 days old today, and is SO strong and awake and alert. It's amazing...I remember Isaac the first few weeks would barely open his eyes :) Little N was wide awake for most of our session...and as long as her belly was full, she was quite content to look around and take in all the new things around her.

Blog Contest #3 ~ Bay Area Photography, Family

ETA: OK you guys....where to start! So, as I'm sure you've noticed...the voting has been quite 'interesting' today. I really truly appreciate all of you that have come to our little ol' blog to vote for your favorite kiddo. We had no clue when we picked our 10 finalists that one of our clients was quite famous among the twitter crowd! And by famous, I mean thousands and thousands of followers! They very graciously let me know that they feel that the voting is no longer fair to the other contestants and offered to remove themselves from the contest to keep it fair for the rest of the group. (Thank you B family for being so wonderful through all of this confusion...and thank you to all the other finalists for being so understanding).

SO, let's start over from scratch, shall we? And let me stress again, ONE vote per person, PLEASE! I have closed the old poll and will have a new poll up for you tomorrow and the voting will commence then!

Is it October? OCTOBER??? This year has flown by....truly, I feel like we just welcomed 2009. Anyway, as you know...our famous V&J Blog Contest is LOOONG overdue. In fact, it's supposed to be a bi-annual contest and should have happened in July. It was a busy busy summer and before we knew it...we found ourselves smack in the middle of Fall! Oh Well :) Fall is my favorite season, and as I said in the last post....our boy is now a pre-schooler! AND SO...better late then never, yes??

Status Update - Bay Area Photography!

We Survived!!! And by "we" I of course mean Justin and I :)

Isaac on the other hand, couldn't have done any better. Here is a little synopsis of the day.

First let me say that I spent about 20 minutes picking out his outfit...coming up with several options and asking Justin for his opinion. He didn't say anything, but his look said this "Veronica, you realize this is not you starting high school...but our 2 and a half yr old son going to preschool" Which is true of course, but you can never underestimate the power of a great outfit on your first day..RIGHT? Come on people, back me up here.

Anyway, this morning....we woke up, brushed our teeth, had a snack, put on our UCLA backpack...modeled for mommy for a few photos...and we were off!

Arrived at the preschool, walked in gave each other hugs...he then walked into the room where the kids were...looked around, saw a little boy playing with trucks and said "I want to do what that boy is doing"...and marched right in...didn't even look back. J and I stood there for another minute, marveling at how amazing our little man was....and then left.

When I picked him up this evening...here are some of the words from the teachers:
"What a good boy, I wish all the kids were this easy and wonderful when they first started"
"He didn't cry once"
"He ate everything and used the potty when he was supposed to"
"He took a nap"

And finally, as we were leaving a little boy tried to take a truck that Isaac was holding....and the first thing my kid said was "Excuse me please, I'm playing with that truck"

OK OK! I'm done :*) I'm just a proud mommy today....so thanks for coming along for the ride...

This weekend we had family visiting from out of town and we took the opportunity to visit a beautiful little town just north of San Francisco: Tiburon, CA! It's a bit of a drive for us but always a really fun visit...

The Next Becks - Birthday Wishes ~ Bay Area Photography, Family

Today is a big day!!! It's J's bday :) That's right folks....we are celebrating a 30-something birthday today...how you ask? Well...by taking our little dude to his VERY FIRST soccer class :)

I can't believe my kid is old enough to play soccer! When did this happen :) J took the day off today and was able to come with us, which was super fun..especially for Isaac!

Here is what he learned:

Dribbling the ball (did you know they call it dribbling, like in basketball? i didn't)
And scoring the goal of course

I have a feeling he'll get really into it...at least I hope he does! I'm ready to be the soccer mom. HA!

Sibling Love - Bay Area Photography, Family

As part of a brother/sister duo myself...I was so excited when A contacted me about photographing her two little ones. I always love photographing siblings and capturing that relationship that is so unique between brothers and sisters! So needless to say, I was looking forward to this session. And boy was I right!!! These two are very possibly the most well-behaved kids I've ever photographed. (And I'm not just saying that)....they are 5 and 2 years old, which could be a difficult age combo...but they made it so easy!

K Family, you were such a joy to work with! Here is your sneak peek :) Enjoy!

LOOOOVE! Look at these gorgeous kids! Seriously.....they must have some good genes in this family!

Big sister M was amazing. She did exactly what I asked her..all while trying to make her little brother smile. Super smart girl with the sweetest smile ever...

And the little man! What can I say about him.....I pretty much fell in love! And apparently he did too since at the end of our session he kept saying "I want to go home with Monica!" (ok ok....Veronica might be hard for a 2 yr old to say)

And last....something about this shot that just gets me. It's not a 'look at the lens and smile' kind of shot...but there is emotion..and i love it!

Forgot to mention...these were taken at Gamble Gardens in PA...y'all know I love that place!

Red! - Bay Area Photography, Family

This morning I had a super fun time photographing the beautiful S family! (it's the session that I had to reschedule, and was SO excited that these guys were so flexible with their time).

Anyway, when mommy J told me that her little girl was a a redhead with blue eyes...well, let's just say I knew we'd have a blast....and we did! Now it's been a while since I've photographed a 17 month old...and I'd forgotten how full of energy this age group is. In fact, after every photo you see here little Eva was off running! And we all ran after her :)....so yes, I'm exhausted..but she couldn't have been more beautiful. And mom and dad were pretty great too!

Germs and the Argentine Tango ~ Bay Area Photography, Family

Well, we're alive. We're still around...but it has NOT been a fun week! Last week, out of nowhere...I woke up completely sick :( To the point where I had to reschedule photo shoots, and we had to cancel plans with friends that we had forever...GRRR, i caught some bug that would NOT go away. It didn't help that during the days, I had a toddler who was bouncing off the walls with energy..while all I could do was lay on the couch. Well, days go by...I'm starting to feel better and of course, the little guy gets sick. I was hoping he might escape my germs somehow...but alas, that was not meant to be.

SO, here we are...finally feeling better :) And before we get back to the client photos this weekend, here are a few of the energizer bunny at our local park the other day...he couldn't figure out why in the world we were taking pictures instead of heading to the playground...

This morning, I was lucky enough to photograph and amazing couple who are expecting their first child...a baby girl. J is due in just about 3 weeks, and I can't believe how willing she was to do whatever I asked: sit, stand, lay down....Seriously, at 8 months I think I could barely move :) Anyway, they are both beautiful and ridiculously photogenic. Yea, I get pretty lucky with gorgeous clients, eh?

Anyway, J&A thank you so much for welcoming us into your home (and feeding us the yummy food!!!) I had an absolute blast getting to know you and you really made the photography part easy! I CAN'T wait until the little one makes her grand entrance! Enjoy your sneak peek :)

Shoot of All Shoots - The Finale - Bay Area Photography, Family

And so, our marathon week of beautiful faces comes to an end! Today is the last share from our Mega-session of last week. I know you've all enjoyed coming here daily to see the sparkly eyes, dimples, smiles, sweet little cheeks....and I've had a blast editing these! Keep a close eye on the blog though..you might just see some of these faces again in the near future ;)

OK...let's roll...

First is Mr. M! Such a cool name this little guy has (you'll just have to take my word for it!) Anyway, he was super easy and smiley...AND a big fan of books (you'll see)

I wont even begin to tell you what this book was about (I was just using it as a way to hold down my backdrop)..for some reason all the kiddos were drawn to it...let's just say the title was something like "Vegas Rich"

And here is Ms. C! This little pumpkin is SO.FAST! She didn't stop for a second...so all of these shots are from those "in-between" moments of movement. Anyway, I just love this first one..it look like it could be from the 1920's or something..

And finally....coming in as the last two of our Set of TWENTY munchkins...are twins, Q&B! Both have the most beautiful brown eyes I think I've ever seen.

So here is Mr. Q! As I was photographing the little ones that came before him...somehow he always wandered onto the backdrop and was hanging out int he background :) So by the time his turn came, he knew exactly what to do...

And now, here is Twin Sis, B...Considering she was the very last one, after hours of partying it up with her friends...I'd say she just may win the patience prize! And what did I tell you about the brown eyes?? Beautiful :)

She is ROCKIN' that headband :)

Shoot of All Shoots - Part Five - Bay Area Photography, Family

This has got to be the busiest week of photos ever! As I'm writing this, Isaac is standing next to me saying "Who is that boy?" "Who is that girl?"...."She is pretty" "He's a big boy" etc... :) Endless entertainment over here...I tell ya!

Ok....on to the photos:

Let's welcome the lovely R! This little one seriously needs to be in commercials! She is soooo pretty...blue eyes, curly blond hair...super sweet and very comfortable in front of the camera.

And here is D! This munchkin was SOOO fast! He sat down for maybe 5 seconds and he was off running (apparently to his girlfriend, R...from above). Anyway, his daddy really had to work to keep the little dude on the backdrop... :) But it was worth it of course

Look at his eyelashes!!! So unfair :)

And finally, here is the little Lady, M. If I had a girl, this is exactly how I would dress her ;)....She has a great Classic name that I just love....and was a fantastic model for me.

Shoot of All Shoots - Part Four - Bay Area Family Photography

Our little dude is sick :( He's got a cold, runny nose..and a cranky attitude. Last night he could not fall asleep....about every fifteen minutes he'd wake up crying and saying one of these gems..

"Mooaaammyyy, my THhThhThhoomas Felll DOoowwwwnn"

"Moommaaayyyye..leave the liiigghtt onnnn"

"Mommyyyy, my eyes are wettt, i need to wipe themmm"

...you get the idea. Poor thing :( Other then chicken soup, and lots of water...I'm not sure what to do with him...ideas?

Anyway, on a happier note, here are some more of the cuties from the Sunday Portrait Party!

Let's start with S! He was such a great model...it's like he knew that mom was in a bit of a hurry and he just did his thing, posed and was done! How handsome is this little dude?

Next we have G&H! Sisters :)...It's too bad that I don't share names on here because these two have gorgeous names...plus of course, they are just beautiful!

Here is big Sis, G! 4 years old...total ham :) Plus she had some rockin' shoes on, which she told me were 'too big!'

And here is lil' sis, H! I am seriously not exaggerating when I say this little girl is the HAPPIEST kid EVER. She didn't stop smiling the entire time...which of course made this photographer...Very Happy!

And finally (for today, of course)...is Ms. P!
I tell ya, I'm one lucky girl....once again I get a gorgeous, sweet, totally calm and smiley baby :) Yay! And yes, her eyes are this beautiful...I didn't do anything to them other then the normal Post Processing steps.

Is there such a thing as cuteness overload?? No way :) Here are some more beautiful faces to make you all smile on this lovely Wednesday morning....

First is C! he is so delish! Don't you just want to squeeze him? I've had a few people ask me if every child in this group has amazing eyes....and the answer is...umm, Yea! They all kind of do....

Ok, here we go.....he is too young to run away from me! YAY......

Next is F! He has the cutest smile...you can't help but smile right along with him....though he is definitely a fast one! Not to worry...nothing that a maraca couldn't fix :)

And last but definitely not least...here is S. This little one is spitfire, that's for sure! The first go-around she wanted nothing to do with me or the camera...but given a few minutes and pretzel...all that changed...and she was a ham in front of the camera.

The Shoot of all Shoots - Bay Area Family Photography

This Sunday, I had a really fun (but VERY exhausting) time photographing a whole lot of One-Yr old kiddos. A little backstory: My dear friend S, who is part of a big mommy group, invited me to photograph their big "Quarterly" birthday celebration. This age is so much fun...the little ones are super expressive, curious and sweet. But of course..the last thing they really want to be doing is sitting on a backdrop while all their pals are playing :) Anyway, I got some really fabulous shots...and is it fair that all these kids are gorgeous? I mean, seriously...is that like the rule to be part of the club? (You'll see what i'm talking about)

So..because there were so many, I will be starting in the order photographed...and i'll be sharing 3-4 in each blog post. So here we go....my first 3 :)

Here we have Ms. C! Such a GORGEOUS girl and super seirous :) I heard one of the other Moms' say that she had a Meg Ryan haircut, and it's SOOO true!

And next, we have Mr. R! He is all about moving and running and going going going! So what's a girl to do? Well stick him in the chest of course :) It worked for a few minutes...and then he was off....reminds me So much of Isaac!

And finally (for today)...we have the lovely L! She just looks like a beautiful doll. Beyond adorable! She loved her balloon....oh..and crawling towards me :)

This Life - Bay Area Photography

Isaac, today you and I took a mommy/munchkin trip to the beach.

We woke up early and drove 30 minutes.
The sky was grey, and the seagulls were hanging out in large groups..undisturbed.
We went to Mr. Toots, got a coffee and a milk, and walked out to the beach.
We were the only ones....just you and I. You ran into the big crowd of seagulls and laughed when they flew away.
We watched the waves and saw a helicopter up above.
We built sand castles and got sand all over ourselves.
We climbed the lifeguard tower and ran all around and under it.
We collected rocks and looked for seashells.
You said "I love you mommy" and I melted into a big puddle.
I got you a slice of mushroom pizza from Pizza My Heart...and you were in heaven.
When I asked what your favorite part of today was..you said "the sand".

A day I'll never forget.

Sometimes I feel silly writing stuff about our days...like maybe you don't really care about what I do on a random Saturday, and would rather just see the photo stuff. My, How Quickly They Grow ~ Bay Area Photographer

Seems like just yesterday that I met the beautiful 'S' family. I walked into their home to photograph their baby girl...just 4 months old at the time. (Click Here to see that first blog post)

Well, here we are almost 8 months later, celebrating Ms. C's FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!! Not only is she now one of Isaac's favorite girls (and Friday afternoon date)..but her mommy is also now one of my dear friends :) So, needless to say...I was super excited to do her official first birthday shoot! And in celebration of her birthday, her two grandmas, big cousin and uncle all flew to CA from Florida and Virginia to help Chloe celebrate! How awesome to be able to capture all the people that love her so much, but that live in different states. I feel honored.

S, K and family...here is your sneak peek! I had such a great time with you all on Saturday!

Let's start with the star of the show...(I have to mention that as I was shooting these shots, a little group of Japanese tourists who were touring the Stanford campus...decided to stop, videotape, and watch us..it was kind of hilarious....but who wouldn't stop and watch this pumpkin!)

No, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth! I'm here, I'm here! We've missed you all :)

Wedding, you say? What wedding :) Well...this wknd, J and I drove down to LA (for those that don't know...that's where we met...and that's where many of our friends still are). J was the Best Man at the wedding for Brian, who just happened to be our best man, btw. Not only was he J's best man at our wedding, but he also gave the famous "Speech"...which has been told and retold throughout the years...and truly was one of the best toasts at a wedding ever. SO, J had a lot of pressure to live up to (no stress)..but he did GREAT!!!

Anyway, enough chit chat...let's get to the good stuff!

Five - Bay Area Photography, Family

Well hello Internet!

A few weeks ago I posted a quick post about our anniversary. It was sort of a drive-by post..with not much info.

The thing is..we got married on J's mom's birthday...and my Mom celebrates her bday the following day. (As my dad said in his toast at our wedding..."It will be a very memorable day for Justin"). Anyway...that being the case..we almost never celebrate our anniversary on the actual day. This year was no exception...but since it was our FITH!!!! we decided to do something special.

All the credit goes to J, who planned a seriously fabulous weekend in Napa! We had such a great time and though we missed the little dude, I must say...it was nice to get away for a bit!

3 Troublemakers - Bay Area Photography, Family

I've been wanting to get these 3 little dudes together for some photos for a very long time now. In fact, i think this might be the first time I've photographed all 3 of them at the same time. So when my Sis-in-law and all the nephews came for a visit last wknd, I thought....no better time!

So here we all were....the boys wiggling, rolling, and squirming away from their spots...my Dad and my oldest nephew trying to keep them in place. It was a circus....and a workout for all involved. But we got some great shots...(No eye contact of course..but the interaction is even better i think).

I know I keep saying this...but, really..it's amazing how much harder it is to photograph your own child then somebody else's....Maybe because when I meet my clients kiddos, I am somebody new and interesting...with these three....they couldn't care less! They just wanted to play and be done with this impromptu photo shoot. So here they are...

Hey all...pretty rare for me to be posting on a Saturday, but I had to do a quick check-in...to post some of these fabulous photos of beautiful Chloe. You've seen her on this blog before....and of course she is one of Isaac's favorite girls!

Ms. C is now mobile (crawling like a champ....and walking VERY soon)...so our whole little session lasted maybe 10-15 minutes. But I was so excited to get her on my new favorite paper...and to test out my new favorite prop (Thank You ROSS!!! $12 baby :)

I think her eyes and this paper were made for each other...eh?

I bought this with the intention of using it for newborns, but I think this worked out quite well :)

Oy! - Bay Area Photograpy, Family

OK you guys....a couple of days ago...Isaac and I were 'cleaning' the office...moved the computer just a tiny bit...and the whole thing SHUT DOWN! I mean...completely, totally dead. I couldn't get anything to fire up. In a massive panic, I called my computer Hero...aka, J. He came home....spent a few hours on it...and: NOTHING. The next day, he tried again...and this time, Thank the Gods above....he got it to work. According to J, we are still not 100%, but at least I can now work on all the outstanding projects.

Anyway, thanks for listening to me vent....needless to say, for someone who does all of her work on this computer, editing, processing, ordering, blogging, etc...it was NOT a good time. THANK YOU THANK YOU hubby, for being the computer genius that you are :)

She's One! - Bay Area Photography, Family

There is nothing I love more then seeing the beautiful little faces I get to photograph grow and change! And if I get to photograph them again....well, that's just icing on the cake!!

Today I had the absolute pleasure of photographing some of my very favorite clients EVER. Seriously, i love these guys. They are so easy going, up for anything...and totally and completely in love with their beautiful little girl. Now you may remember these gorgeous blue eyes from THIS POST. She was about 4 or 5 months at that time, couldn't sit up....couldn't roll over (maybe she could...i can't remember)...BUT, she was already a super smiler. Well, fast forward to today..and she is now an official ONE YEAR OLD!!! Happy Birthday Sweet N! She is walking all over the place (Frankenstein style..but still!). But one thing has not changed at all...that smile!

(is that a tooth I see trying to peak through?)

I just love the relationship between N and her daddy. He knows exactly what to do to make his girl laugh....doesn't matter if it's silly, or whatever.

We went to a Classic Car show in our favorite little town, Capitola a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful Cars, Gorgeous weather..and the BEACH!

Every Little Boys Dream!? - Bay Area Photography, Family

Hey friends :) I'm a live and well.....just took a little mini-blog vacation this past week. And it was great! Filled with birthdays, anniversaries, family and out-of-towners. Busy but fun!

Yes folks, my little dude is now sleeping in a "Big-Boy" bed. And, as you can see...it's not just any ol' bed. Infact, according to J....it's every little boys dream. HMM, i'm still on the fence about that...but his sentiment has been confirmed by no fewer than 5 other guys. SO, i guess it might be true...

Ok, I give in....he likes it, I KNOW!

I am melting...seriously...this weather is NOT fun....and the fact that the air conditioner doesn't work in the office where I spend hours editing and processing photos....well, let's just say I've been taking a lot of breaks.....hence the lack of activity the last week on the blog.

OK, enough complaining....I've gotta bottle of ice water next to me and I'm ready to get some work done! But not before a blog post of course :) I know all you fabulous Internet Friends that are checking in are getting tired of seeing my mushy father's day post.

So...here are few from the last session that I'm trying to wrap up. ALMOST THERE C&D :)

I am so in love with this shot....maybe I caught her mid-blink..or maybe she loves her mama's kisses...but, it is one sweet moment, that's for sure!

I love that the only one looking in my direction is Jackson, the fabulous lab...and that the rest of the family is just in their own world.

Frufty, Conversations with Isaac - Bay Area Photography

So, our munchkin is 2.5 yrs old. He is at that awesome age where he is doing/saying something new every day. It's so SO much fun to talk to him these days....you never know what will come out of his mouth. Not only does he mimic everything people say, but he is starting to really express his own thoughts, wants....

He is changing so quickly, that I thought it would be a good idea to write a few of these gems down....and what better place then the blog :) That way his pearls of wisdom will be in internet land forever ;)

Here are just a few:

FRUFTY - As in "Mommy my hands are Frufty!"....or "My hair is frufty"....i think it means fluffy....for example when he gets out of the bath and his hands are all pruney (sp?)..his description is frufty. :) We love that word around here....it's used often...and not just by the dude.

AFRICOT....it means Apricot....and no matter how hard I try...it's still Africot

MOMMY WILL YOU HELP MY? - This is a new one and it's so funny....everything is "MY" instead of "ME" or "Mine"...

Thanks for riding along with us on our "Isaac is Awesome" train! And since no post is Ok without some photos....here is Isaac's second trip to the San Francisco Zoo....this time he was old enough to really enjoy. So did we....but how come they don't have elephants???

The B Fam! - Bay Area Photography, Family

I love my job! I love that I get to meet awesome families and get to know adorable little kiddos. All with their own fun personalities. This morning, we met up with the "B" family....mom, dad....gorgeous little E and her big brother, Jackson. And grandma was along for the ride as well! E is 10 months old and is at that perfect age where she can't quite run away from us yet! YAHOOO :)

And despite the stern warnings from Mommy that Jackson was an unruly, crazy pup.....he actually behaved himself fabulously. I have to say....I'm starting to really like incorporating animals into our shoots (Take note, future clients!!)

As I sat down this afternoon to edit our latest session...I realized that it's been AGES since I've photographed a boy. Seriously. Seems like so far in 2009 its been all girls. Well, what better way to get back to shooting boys then this little dude.

If you've been following this blog for a while you'll possibly recognize the K family. In fact, they were my very first Portfolio Building clients. Almost two years ago exactly I photographed M, M and little A. (Here is the old post)

I was SO excited when M booked this session. There is nothing better then seeing kiddos that I've photographed before grow and change. Not only that, but I knew these guys would bring the 'fabulous' to our shoot! And boy, did they! They showed up looking like they walked out of a catalog! AND coupled with the fact that we were shooting at Santana Row...it made for a FUN morning :)

Ok, short story. As we were starting to shoot...a police/security guy rolled up on his bike and proceeded to tell us that we couldn't shoot there unless we had a license. Umm, excuse me??? Not to worry...with some creative deflecting, a few white lies and some camera/photography small talk...we escaped being kicked out and continued on our journey. BUT, it's a good thing this happened 2 minutes after THIS incident...otherwise, there would be no hope!

Wordless Wednesday - Bay Area Photography

Hi All! Ok ok...so a few wks ago I made this post about our new project: Wordless Wednesday!

BUT....unfortunately...I have too many words today to make it wordless! HA! That's usually the case....
Anyway, wait until you see the bed we ordered for the munchkin! I'll post some shots as soon as it's all set up :)

Ok...on to the photos....As I try to finish up my last few sessions, the blog posting has been a little slow. But, to spice things up....and at the request of E's mommy....here is another little peek at the lovely E. I'm thinking you all agree with me when I say this fabulous outfit deserved another blog post! :)

And there's the wagon....making its 3rd or 4th appearance....

And of course, Outfit #1! I love this shot.....i caught her in a moment....and the next second she was off running...and the dogs were stepping on me

Pettis, Hats and German Shepards - Bay Area Photography, Children

For the last few weeks I've been telling everyone that would listen "Hey I've got a session coming up with 2 German Shepards!!! YIKES :)" You see, I never had a dog growing up, and though I love them....I was just slightly concerned as to how they would react to some lady with a big black box in front of her face the whole time. WELLLL, they could not be sweeter. Of course it didn't hurt to also have the cutest little munchkin, 19 month old 'E'. Not only was she beautiful, but her mommy had seriously the best outfits for her. (You'll see what I mean). We met at Holbrook-Palmer Park in Atherton. It was my first time shooting at this location, and I think I love it! Good thing, because we have another session coming up in a few week there in that same spot.

2 dogs and a toddler....Yes, we were exhausted by the time all was said and done, but it was so much fun! And we got some awesome shots!!!

This is what I call love....E just sat on Sasha (the doggy) and sasha was totally cool with it! :)

Oh the cuteness.....this is towards the end of the session, when little E was starting to lose steam...she wandered off away from mom and dad and I just followed her...got some great shots here

And one of the whole family....this was quite a production....let me tell you! It's no easy feat trying to get this crew to all look at the same direction :) But it was totally worth it!

Help! Our little monster (uhh, I mean munchkin)...has learned how to jump out of his crib! And i don't mean climb out..I mean jump out...like within two seconds. :( You know what this means don't you??? This means that my days of 3 hour breaks in the middle of the day while he naps are G.O.N.E. No...NO.....NOOOOOOO. That was the time to get everything done. To catch up on all of the photography stuff....to cook...to clean....do all the stuff that's impossible to do with a toddler attached to you.

To cheer myself up...i'm posting a couple more shots from our last two sessions.....

Humming Birds - Bay Area Photography, Children

Sorry for the slow blog week guys :) I've been busy trying to wrap up my last two sessions (more sneak peeks of those coming soon).

But in the meantime, here are a few from tonight.

We had a family dinner at grandma/grandpa's house. I'm continuing to get to know and love my new lens (see two posts down)....So here we go....

I love this...even though the composition is off, Isaac's head is cut off, but it's the pure joy that's on his face...

Now, it's been a while since this pretty lady made an appearance on our blog....Hi Ma! :) (She was helping me do a focus test with the new gear....since Isaac is definitely not one to sit still for a portrait)

An finally....right outside my parents front door....there is a little birds nest with two humming birds sitting quietly on their eggs. All they do is sit still and blink their eyes. SO COOL! This is as close as I could get (standing on a ladder, by the way)

Shirley Who? - Bay Area Photography, San Jose

I've been lucky to photograph some awesome kiddos in the past. All gorgeous in their own ways. But I gotta say, this little one from this morning....just takes my breath away. Such a beautiful girl....in that classic Shirley Temple way. You may remember seeing her on this blog about 6 months ago. I think it was in January when I photographed her along with 4 of her best girlfriends. It was toddler madness....with lots of pink tutus and fluffy things.

Anyway, this morning we got together with J, her mommy L and daddy A at the beautiful Gamble Gardens. The occasion was J's 3rd birthday! 3 Yr olds are so full of personality...attitude...charm...and ENERGY. J was all over the place, running, jumping, twirling, etc. But in between all the movement, I got some of my favorite shots EVER.

...Hello Lova...

Say hello to the new member of our little Lens family. I've been wanting this baby for years and for my birthday....i got it! Yahoooo.

Also, you've probably noticed that we've had quite a few clients choose to use backdrops for their little ones....and I LOVE shooting on the backdrop..but was getting kind of bored with the standard white/blue/pink and black. SO, here is something different :) I am so so happy with this color! It's sort of the perfect shade of Gray.

Here's Isaac modeling (begrudgingly) on the new 'Thunder Gray' paper. Love this kid....he'll put up with anything (ok ok, i promised him some cookies)

Yesterday afternoon I had the great pleasure of photographing a really lovely family. H and her daughter, J have come out for a visit from Germany with her sister (an old colleague of mine) and her hubby. What better occasion to have family photographs taken. Oh, and I have a new favorite location....Wicchetti Winery in Cupertino. Such a beautiful place...I highly recommend it to any of you who are trying to pick a location for our shoot!
